1. The Black Beach in Punalu’u, Hawaii
Punaluʻu Beach (which is also known as Black Sand Beach) is a beach between Pāhala and Nāʻālehu on the Big Island of Hawaii. The beach has black sand that is made up of basalt and is created by lava flowing into the ocean which explodes as it reaches the ocean and cools. This volcanic activity is in the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. Punaluʻu is frequented by endangered hawksbill and green turtles, which can often be seen basking on the black sand. If this doesn’t provide the perfect environment for an afternoon delight, I don’t know what does. Allow yourself to get carried away by the romance that all of Hawaii has to offer.
2. Pink Sands Beach in Harbour Island, Bahamas
Harbour Island is most known for its pale pink sand beaches that are 3+ miles long and about 50 to 100 feet wide – plenty of space to find somewhere out of site. They are considered some of the very best pink sand beaches in the world. The sand is composed of bits of coral, broken shells, tiny rocks and calcium carbonate from tiny marine invertebrates. The color comes from tiny microscopic shelled animals known as Foraminifera. This animal has a bright pink or red shell full of holes. These beaches provide you with the perfect backdrop for your sexy getaway. Bonus – it will even match your Strawberry Champagne on ice.
3. Maho Beach in The Carribbean
Maho Beach is on the Dutch Side of the Carribbean island of St. Martin. It is famous for the Princess Juliana International Airport adjacent to the beach. Because of this the airplanes fly so close to the beach that it’s sure to inject some “excitement” into your day.
4. The Shining Beach in Vaadhoo, Maldives
Vaadhoo Island is famous for being “heaven on earth”. The mesmerizing shining water looks like a mirror that reflects the stars above. It is the PERFECT setting for what is guaranteed to be the most romantic night of your life. The secret to the shiny water is phytoplankton which are bioluminescent and emanate the blue glow that you see in the water. Grab a blanket, grab the wine, and leave the candles at home. This beach will provide you with all the light you need.
5. The Hidden Beach in Playa del Amor, Mexico
First of all, this ones a given seeing as it’s hidden. There’s something so sexy about “hiding” what you are doing. Websites for the beach basically invite couples to come and have sex there. The Atlas Obscura says “A lovers’ beach, tucked below the surface of the island, provides a safe haven for romance. The Hidden Beach is invisible from the outside, and is only accessible through a long water tunnel that links the beach to the Pacific Ocean. There is approximately six feet of space above water level, so visitors can arrive at the beach by swimming or kayaking. The islands remain uninhabited, but are frequently visited by tourists who come to enjoy the diverse marine wildlife and the unique tropical Eden of Playa del Amor.” So basically – hi, no one lives here, come have sex on our beach.
Enjoy! Let me know if I missed any other beaches that are perfect for lovers to find themselves stranded on.
